Private Ultrasound Scan London
Consultant-performed pelvic and gynaecological ultrasound at AristoGp, Chancery Lane EC1N. Your scan is performed by the same consultant who takes your history — results and clinical interpretation provided within the same appointment. From £270.
Consultant-Performed Ultrasound
At AristoGp, gynaecological ultrasound is performed by Dr Anastasia Mermigka, Consultant Gynaecologist (GMC 7640566). Your scan is conducted by the same consultant who takes your clinical history — this integrated approach means you receive your results and a clinical interpretation without needing a second appointment or referral to a separate sonographer.
This model of care allows Dr Mermigka to correlate ultrasound findings directly with your symptoms and examination findings, enabling a more comprehensive clinical assessment within a single visit.
How Your Scan Appointment Works
- Consultation — Dr Mermigka takes a full clinical history, reviews your symptoms and any previous investigations, and discusses the purpose and scope of the scan.
- Ultrasound examination — the scan is performed using diagnostic-grade ultrasound equipment. Depending on clinical indication, this may be a transabdominal scan, a transvaginal scan, or both. You will be guided through each step and can ask questions throughout.
- Results and management plan — findings are explained to you immediately following the scan. A written report is produced, along with a management plan covering any further investigations, treatment options, or referrals required.
Types of Ultrasound Scan
Pelvic Ultrasound
A pelvic ultrasound is used to assess the uterus and ovaries and may be indicated for a wide range of gynaecological presentations, including:
- Heavy or irregular menstrual bleeding
- Pelvic pain or pressure
- Suspected uterine fibroids or polyps
- Assessment of ovarian cysts
- Suspected polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
- Investigation of intermenstrual or postmenopausal bleeding
- Endometrial assessment as part of menopause or HRT management
Early Pregnancy Scan
An early pregnancy ultrasound can confirm a viable intrauterine pregnancy, assess gestational age, and identify the number of embryos. It is typically performed from 6–7 weeks of pregnancy (counted from the first day of the last menstrual period). This scan is relevant for:
- Confirming fetal heartbeat and viability
- Accurate dating of the pregnancy
- Ruling out ectopic pregnancy in conjunction with clinical assessment
- Reassurance following early pregnancy bleeding or pain
Fertility Ultrasound
For patients undergoing fertility assessment, Dr Mermigka can perform an antral follicle count (AFC), which provides an assessment of ovarian reserve. This is often performed alongside an anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) blood test. The fertility ultrasound appointment includes:
- Antral follicle count (AFC) using transvaginal ultrasound
- Ovarian morphology assessment
- Uterine assessment
- Discussion of findings in the context of fertility planning and onward referral if required
