How do I book a private GP appointment?
Book online through our booking system, or message us on WhatsApp — WhatsApp is the fastest way to reach us. Private GP consultations start from £150 and are available face-to-face at 1-5 Portpool Lane, in English, Greek and Bulgarian. Blood tests, if needed, are charged separately. Same-day appointments are available Monday to Saturday.
Do I need a referral for a gynaecology appointment?
No referral is needed. All gynaecology consultations are led by a consultant gynaecologist from your first appointment. If you are unsure which appointment you need, start with a Gynaecology Consultation (£200) — your consultant can add further investigations during the same visit.
Can I have a pelvic ultrasound at the same visit?
Yes. Pelvic ultrasound — transvaginal and transabdominal — is performed during your consultation when clinically appropriate, with same-day results and no separate scan appointment. Consultation and pelvic ultrasound together is £300.
Can you issue private prescriptions?
Yes, where clinically appropriate, following a consultation and assessment. Private prescriptions can be taken to any pharmacy, and the medication itself is paid for at the pharmacy. We do not prescribe controlled drugs.
Can you refer me to a specialist?
Yes. Onward referrals to specialists and for further imaging are made as part of a private GP consultation.
How soon can I be seen?
Same-day appointments are kept for problems that should not wait, such as bleeding after the menopause or acute pelvic pain. You can book directly without a referral if you are paying yourself.
Will I see the same consultant each time?
Yes. The consultant who assesses you is the one who performs your scan, interprets it and manages your care. Continuity matters in gynaecology, because the picture often becomes clear over two or three visits rather than one.
What happens if I need treatment or surgery?
Where medical treatment is appropriate, it can often be started at the first appointment; otherwise the doctor will guide you on next steps, including referral. Where an operation or a procedure such as a hysteroscopy is the right answer, it is discussed fully and a referral arranged. We will also tell you when watching and reviewing is the better option.
Which conditions do you see most often?
Heavy or irregular periods, pelvic pain, fibroids, ovarian cysts, PCOS, endometriosis, perimenopause and menopause, postmenopausal bleeding, recurrent thrush and bacterial vaginosis, cervical screening, and early pregnancy assessment.
Can I be seen in a language other than English?
Yes. Dr Anastasia Mermigka consults in English, Greek and Italian. Our GP, Dr Georgios Schoinas, consults in English, Greek and Bulgarian.
