Well Woman Check in London

AristoGP offers comprehensive Well Woman Check packages in Central London, designed to give you a thorough assessment of your gynaecological health in a single appointment. Whether you are due a routine check, experiencing symptoms, or simply want peace of mind, our specialist female gynaecologist Dr Anastasia Mermigka will provide an specialist, unhurried consultation tailored to you.

What Is a Well Woman Check?

A Well Woman Check is a comprehensive preventive health assessment focused on women’s gynaecological and reproductive health. It brings together several key screening and diagnostic tests in a single, coordinated appointment — saving you time and ensuring that no aspect of your health is overlooked.

A Well Woman Check at AristoGP is performed by a specialist consultant gynaecologist. This means that any findings are assessed and interpreted by a clinician with advanced specialist knowledge of women’s health, and any concerns can be managed or referred appropriately without delay.

Depending on the package chosen, a Well Woman Check may include a full gynaecology consultation, pelvic ultrasound, cervical smear test with HPV testing, and sexual health screening — all in one appointment at our Central London clinic.

Why Regular Well Woman Checks Matter

Many of the most common gynaecological conditions — including fibroids, ovarian cysts, cervical cell changes, and endometrial abnormalities — can be entirely asymptomatic in their early stages. By the time symptoms appear, conditions may have progressed and become more complex to treat. Regular Well Woman Checks offer several important benefits:

  • Early detection of gynaecological conditions — pelvic ultrasound can identify fibroids, ovarian cysts, and endometrial changes before they cause symptoms. Cervical screening detects high-risk HPV strains and cell changes that, if left untreated, could develop into cervical cancer.
  • Peace of mind — knowing that a specialist has assessed your pelvic health and found nothing of concern is genuinely reassuring, especially for women with a family history of gynaecological conditions
  • Preventive health management — early identification of conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis, or hormonal imbalances allows for timely, less invasive treatment and better long-term outcomes
  • A dedicated space to discuss your concerns — the consultation is not rushed. You have time to discuss symptoms, ask questions, and receive clear, personalised clinical guidance
  • A complete picture in one appointment — rather than multiple separate visits to different clinicians, AristoGP’s Well Woman packages consolidate screening and assessment into a single, efficient appointment

What’s Included in Detail

Specialist Gynaecology Consultation (all packages)

Every package begins with a full consultation with Dr Anastasia Mermigka, a GMC-registered specialist consultant gynaecologist. Dr Mermigka will take a detailed medical and gynaecological history, discuss any symptoms or concerns, and guide the assessment accordingly. This is not a rushed five-minute appointment — you will have unhurried time to discuss your health.

Pelvic Ultrasound (Packages C and E)

Using the specialist high-resolution ultrasound — an advanced obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound system with 3D/4D capability — Dr Mermigka will perform a transvaginal and/or transabdominal pelvic ultrasound to assess the uterus, ovaries, endometrium, and surrounding structures. Findings are explained to you during the appointment and a formal written report is provided.

Cervical Screening / Smear Test with HPV Testing (Packages E and D)

A cervical sample is collected by the specialist gynaecologist and sent to an accredited laboratory for high-risk HPV testing (covering 14 HPV types) and liquid-based cytology if indicated. A written report is provided and Dr Mermigka will discuss the results and any recommended follow-up.

STI Screening: Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea (Package D)

Package D includes testing for chlamydia and gonorrhoea in addition to the cervical smear with HPV test. These are the two most common bacterial sexually transmitted infections in the UK, and routine screening is recommended for sexually active women, particularly those under 25 or those with new or multiple partners.

Who Should Have a Well Woman Check?

A Well Woman Check is appropriate for a wide range of women. You may particularly benefit from booking a check if you:

  • Are aged 25 or over and have not had a gynaecological health review in over a year
  • Have a personal or family history of gynaecological conditions, including fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, PCOS, or gynaecological cancers
  • Are experiencing new or unexplained symptoms — such as pelvic pain, changes in your periods, unusual bleeding, or vaginal discharge
  • Are planning a pregnancy and want a baseline assessment of your reproductive health before trying to conceive
  • Are approaching or going through the menopause and want a thorough review of your pelvic health and hormonal status
  • Have missed or are overdue for your NHS cervical screening invitation and want to access a private smear without delay
  • Simply want peace of mind from a thorough, specialist-led health check

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a GP referral to book a Well Woman Check?

No. You can book directly with AristoGP without a referral from your GP or any other clinician. Simply contact us via WhatsApp on +44 7490 643706 or use our online booking system. We offer short-notice and same-day appointments when available.

How long does a Well Woman Check appointment take?

Typically 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the package chosen and the complexity of your history. The appointment includes a full consultation, any relevant examinations, and time to discuss findings. You will not feel rushed.

What is the difference between Package C and Package E?

Package C (£250) includes a full specialist consultation and pelvic ultrasound. Package E (£340) includes everything in Package C plus a cervical smear test with high-risk HPV testing. If you are due a cervical screen or wish to combine your pelvic ultrasound with a smear in one appointment, Package E offers the most comprehensive single visit.

Can I have a Well Woman Check if I am pregnant?

If you are in early pregnancy and wish to have an assessment, please ask about our Early Pregnancy Assessment (Package H1 — £240), which is specifically designed for early pregnancy confirmation and viability assessment. For well woman checks in later pregnancy, please discuss your specific needs when booking.

How do I prepare for a Well Woman Check?

For the pelvic ultrasound component, no specific preparation is usually required, though attending with a comfortably full bladder may help with the transabdominal component. For the cervical smear, try to book when you are not menstruating — ideally mid-cycle. Avoid using tampons, lubricant, or having sexual intercourse in the 24 hours before a smear. It is fine to eat and drink normally on the day of your appointment.
