It is the GP equivalent of a service: a baseline check, a risk assessment, and an honest conversation about what, if anything, needs attention. What the MOT Covers
- Clinical examination: Blood pressure, heart rate, BMI, waist circumference, oxygen saturation and cardiovascular and respiratory examination where indicated
- Medical history review: Personal history, family history, current medications, allergies and lifestyle factors including smoking, alcohol, exercise and sleep
- Cardiovascular risk: A ten-year cardiovascular risk score (Qrisk3) is calculated and explained, giving you a concrete number for your risk of heart attack or stroke
- Diabetes and metabolic risk: Blood glucose, HbA1c and metabolic markers are reviewed. Pre-diabetes affects around 1 in 3 adults and is often undiagnosed
- Cancer screening discussion: Age-appropriate cancer screening including bowel, prostate (PSA for men over 50), and cervical screening status
- Mental health and lifestyle: Stress, sleep, alcohol intake and mood are discussed as part of the overall assessment
- Written health summary: A written report of findings, risk scores and personalised recommendations issued the same day
Optional Blood Tests
Blood tests are not included in the MOT appointment fee but can be arranged at the same visit if Dr Schoinas recommends them. Relevant tests include full blood count, kidney and liver function, thyroid function, fasting cholesterol, HbA1c, vitamin D, B12, ferritin and PSA for men. Results are reviewed by Dr Schoinas and sent with a written explanation.
