IVF follicular tracking is a series of transvaginal ultrasound scans performed during an IVF, IUI, or medicated cycle to monitor the development of follicles in the ovaries. Each scan measures the number and size of growing follicles and the thickness of the uterine lining, allowing your fertility team to time trigger injection and egg collection at the optimal moment.
At AristoGP, Dr Anastasia Mermigka performs follicular tracking scans for women undergoing IVF or other assisted reproduction cycles, whether at a London clinic or abroad. Same-day appointments are available at our Central London clinic near Chancery Lane. Each scan costs £200 and a written report is issued the same day for you to share with your fertility team.
What the Scan Assesses
- Follicle count and size: The number of developing follicles on each ovary is counted and each follicle is measured in two dimensions. Follicles are typically ready for trigger injection when they reach 17 to 20mm in diameter.
- Uterine lining (endometrium): The thickness and pattern of the endometrium is assessed. A trilaminar pattern and adequate thickness (typically 8mm or more) are associated with optimal implantation conditions.
- Ovarian response: The overall response to stimulation is evaluated and documented. If there are signs of over-response (risk of OHSS) or under-response, the written report will note this for your fertility team to act on.
- Written report: A full report with follicle measurements, endometrial thickness, and clinical observations is issued the same day. This report is formatted to be shared directly with your IVF clinic or fertility specialist wherever they are based.
Who Is This Scan For?
- Women undergoing IVF who need monitoring scans but want a more convenient location or faster availability than their clinic offers
- Women doing IVF abroad who need local monitoring scans in London during their stimulation phase
- Women undergoing IUI or medicated frozen embryo transfer cycles requiring follicle or lining monitoring
- Women doing natural or modified natural cycle IVF who need follicle tracking without full stimulation
How It Works
You book your monitoring scans at AristoGP around your cycle and stimulation protocol. Dr Mermigka performs the transvaginal scan, measures all follicles and the endometrial lining, and issues a written report the same day. You share the report with your IVF team, who use the measurements to adjust your medication and advise on timing. There is no requirement to be a patient of AristoGP for any other reason — monitoring-only appointments are welcome.

Can I use AristoGP for monitoring scans if my IVF clinic is elsewhere?
Yes. Many women use AristoGP for monitoring scans while their IVF treatment is managed by another clinic, including clinics abroad. Dr Mermigka will perform the scan and issue a report you can share directly with your fertility team. You do not need to transfer your care.
How many scans will I need during a stimulation cycle?
Most stimulated IVF cycles require two to four monitoring scans, typically starting around day 6 to 8 of stimulation and continuing every one to two days until the trigger injection. The exact number depends on your protocol and your response to stimulation.
How much does an IVF monitoring scan cost in London?
Each IVF follicular tracking scan at AristoGP costs £200 and includes the scan, all measurements, and a written report issued the same day.
Do I need to attend at a specific time in my cycle?
Yes. Monitoring scan timing is determined by your fertility protocol. Your IVF clinic or doctor will advise when each scan is needed. Contact us as soon as you know your stimulation start date so we can ensure availability on the days you need.
