Routine Gynaecology Check-Up — AristoGP

Routine Gynaecology Check-up London — Annual Review with Dr Mermigka

Many women see a gynaecologist only when something is wrong. A routine annual gynaecology check-up takes a different approach: it is an appointment for women who have no specific complaint but want a regular, thorough review of their gynaecological health by a consultant. It is the equivalent of an annual health check, applied to women health.

At AristoGP, the Routine Gynaecology Check-up is a flexible 45-minute consultation with Dr Anastasia Mermigka. It is not a fixed package. Dr Mermigka tailors the appointment to your age, history, and what matters to you, covering the areas that are relevant and arranging any investigations that are appropriate. The consultation costs £200. A pelvic ultrasound can be added on the day if indicated, bringing the total to £300.

What the Check-up Covers

  • Gynaecological history review: Your cycle, any changes since your last review, previous investigations or conditions, current medications, and contraception or fertility plans are documented and discussed.
  • Screening status review: Dr Mermigka checks whether your cervical screening is up to date and, if not, can arrange it at the same visit. Where appropriate, pelvic and ovarian screening is considered based on your personal and family history.
  • Symptom check: You are asked about any symptoms you may have been putting off mentioning, including changes in periods, pelvic discomfort, bladder symptoms, or changes in discharge. Many women find a dedicated gynaecology appointment the right context to raise things they have not mentioned elsewhere.
  • Age-appropriate discussion: For women in their 20s and 30s, this might focus on cycle health and fertility awareness. For women approaching 40, perimenopause planning and ovarian reserve may be relevant. For women in their 50s and beyond, menopause management and cancer surveillance come to the fore.
  • Examination where indicated: Abdominal, speculum, and bimanual pelvic examination are offered where clinically appropriate and with full consent.
  • Written summary: A brief written record of findings, any investigations arranged, and recommended follow-up interval.

How It Differs from the Well Woman Check

The Well Woman Check (A3, £380) is a fixed package that always includes a consultant consultation, pelvic ultrasound, and HPV cervical screening in one visit. It is the most comprehensive single-visit option and is recommended if you want all three components in one appointment.

The Routine Gynaecology Check-up is more flexible. It starts at £200 for the consultation and adds only what is actually needed for you. If your smear is up to date and you have no pelvic symptoms, there is no reason to pay for an ultrasound you do not need. If, on the other hand, you have not had a scan in several years or have a history of fibroids, Dr Mermigka may recommend adding one on the day.

Who Is This Check-up For?

  • Women who want an annual gynaecology review with no specific complaint but want reassurance and an expert eye
  • Women who have not seen a gynaecologist for several years and want to re-establish a baseline
  • Women who have recently moved to London and want to set up ongoing gynaecological care with a female consultant
  • Women with a history of gynaecological conditions such as fibroids, ovarian cysts, or endometriosis who want ongoing monitoring
  • Women who want a review of their contraception, cycle, or fertility situation without a specific concern
  • Women who feel their gynaecological health has not been properly reviewed and want a thorough, unhurried appointment

Optional Add-ons at the Same Visit

  • Pelvic ultrasound: £100 added to the consultation (£300 total). Recommended if you have not had a scan recently, have a history of fibroids or ovarian cysts, or have any pelvic symptoms.
  • HPV cervical screening: £150. If your smear is overdue or you prefer private screening with same-day sample collection.
  • STI panel: £290 for a full seven-test panel if relevant to your situation.
  • Blood tests: Arranged if clinically indicated. Results reviewed by Dr Mermigka and sent by email at no additional charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a reason to book a routine gynaecology check-up?

No. You do not need a specific complaint or concern. Many women book an annual check-up as part of looking after their health, in the same way they would see a dentist. You are welcome to book even if everything seems fine.

How is this different from a Well Woman Check?

The Well Woman Check (£380) always includes consultation, pelvic ultrasound, and HPV cervical screening together in one visit. The Routine Gynaecology Check-up starts at £200 and adds investigations only if they are relevant for you, making it more flexible and better suited to women who do not need everything in one package.

How often should I have a routine gynaecology check-up?

For most women, annual is appropriate. Women with a history of fibroids, ovarian cysts, or other conditions may benefit from more frequent review. Dr Mermigka will advise on the appropriate interval at the end of your appointment.

How much does a routine gynaecology check-up cost in London?

The AristoGP Routine Gynaecology Check-up starts at £200. A pelvic ultrasound adds £100 (total £300). Cervical screening, STI testing, and blood tests can all be added at the same visit. No referral is needed.
