If anything needs adding on the day
If a test is needed during your appointment it is £80 — cervical cytology, chlamydia and gonorrhoea, a urine culture, or a high vaginal swab. The full seven-infection STI panel is £220.
Nothing is added without being discussed with you first, and it is decided in the room rather than chosen at booking, so you are not paying for a test before anyone knows whether you need it. See every fee.
Common questions
How soon can I be seen?
Same-day appointments are kept for problems that should not wait, such as bleeding after the menopause or acute pelvic pain. You can book directly without a referral if you are paying yourself.
What does the consultation cost, and what is included?
A gynaecology consultation is £200 for 45 minutes with a consultant. That covers the full history, a pelvic examination where it is needed, and a management plan agreed with you. If a pelvic ultrasound is also needed it is £300 for both in the same appointment, with the findings explained before you leave.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
Not if you are paying for the appointment yourself. If you intend to claim on private medical insurance, check with your insurer first: most require a referral and an authorisation code before the appointment, and cannot apply it afterwards.
Will I see the same consultant each time?
Yes. The consultant who assesses you is the one who performs your scan, interprets it and manages your care. Continuity matters more in gynaecology than in most specialties, because the picture often becomes clear over two or three visits rather than one.
What happens if I need treatment or surgery?
Many problems are managed medically and started at the first appointment. Where an operation or a procedure such as a hysteroscopy is the right answer, it is discussed fully and a referral arranged. We will also tell you when watching and reviewing is the better option.
Which conditions do you see most often?
Heavy or irregular periods, pelvic pain, fibroids, ovarian cysts, PCOS, endometriosis, perimenopause and menopause, postmenopausal bleeding, recurrent thrush and bacterial vaginosis, cervical screening, and early pregnancy assessment.
Can I be seen in a language other than English?
Yes. Dr Anastasia Mermigka consults in English, Greek and Italian. Our GP, Dr Georgios Schoinas, consults in English, Greek and Bulgarian. Discussing symptoms in your own language changes how much detail you give, which is why it is offered rather than treated as a convenience.
